Time Music Studios offers private drum lessons in Calgary for kids, teens and adults at our West Springs studio in SW Calgary. Learn rhythm, technique and the styles you love in weekly one-on-one 30-minute lessons, on a drum kit in our studio.

Drum lessons that keep the beat going
Drums are one of the most fun instruments to learn, and a strong drummer is the heart of any band. Our lessons build solid timing, coordination and technique, then put them to work on grooves, fills and songs the student actually wants to play.
Our teachers play everything from rock, metal and punk to jazz, funk, pop and reggae. Beginners start with the basics behind the kit, and experienced players can work on reading, speed, style and their own creativity.

A bachelor’s degree in Jazz and Contemporary Pop Music specializing in drumset, and music clinics and band camps across Alberta. Jazz, pop, rock, country, punk, metal, reggae and more.

A versatile drummer whose playing ranges from jazz, funk and disco to grunge, rock and metal, with a patient, encouraging teaching style that builds confidence behind the kit.

Simple weekly drum lessons
Drum lessons are $43 per 30-minute lesson at our West Springs studio, open Monday to Thursday 2 to 9 PM and Friday 1 to 8 PM. There is a drum kit in the studio, so students don’t need to bring their drums to lessons.
Need gear at home? Ask about our drum rentals, and find sticks and practice books at TMS Retail. Drummers can also perform at our February and June recitals. Performing is optional.

Our One-Month Paid Trial is 4 weekly 30-minute lessons for $172 in the studio, paid upfront. You can start a trial any time of year.

Before Your First Lesson | Drums
Do I need a drum kit at home?
A practice pad is enough for about the first 3 months. After that, a drum student will need a drum set at home to keep progressing.
Do I bring my drums to lessons?
No. Students bring their instrument to lessons except for drums and piano, which are in the studio.
What styles can I learn?
Ryan and Zach teach many styles, including rock, metal, punk, jazz, funk, pop and reggae.
Is 30 minutes long enough?
Yes. A half hour is perfect for a beginner, and all new students start with weekly 30-minute lessons.
Try a One-Month Paid Trial
Get started with 4 weekly 30-minute lessons for $172 in our West Springs studio, or $192 for in-home lessons in SW and NW Calgary, paid upfront by credit card. If it isn’t a fit, email us within one week after the last trial lesson to withdraw. Otherwise, regular lessons simply continue, and after that we ask for 6 weeks’ written notice to stop lessons.
