Biography

Mike studied guitar and music throughout his youth and subsequently graduated from the Mount Royal University Jazz Performance program with honors. He has released two albums of his own original rock music and has been touring the Mike MacKenzie Band Canada-wide for several years. He regularly performs in the Calgary area with multiple groups, particularly his own. His usual musical styles include rock, blues, jazz, metal, pop and also teaches theory, songwriting and improvising to more advanced students. With 20+ years of playing experience and 14+ years of teaching experience, he is comfortable teaching all levels and ages, with a general preference for intermediate to advanced (and, of course, diligent) students. Besides the owners, Mike is Time Music’s longest standing teacher; he began at its inception in 2006!
